The Japanese 151 Pokémon cards set was released originally in June of 2023. Well before its release, this set was eyed by Pokémon collectors everywhere. This was partially due to it including the original 151 Pokémon that everyone knows and loves. Another side is that the art in the set is absolutely incredible.

What’s unique about the Japanese 151 vs the English 151 set is that the Japanese set includes both Poke Ball as well as Master Ball holographic cards, while the English does not. Despite including additional cards, both versions have remained incredibly popular.

So how does the Japanese re-print announcement mean that you should buy now?

Japanese 151 Pokémon Re-Print

As of March 2024, an announcement came out that the Japanese 151 set would be re-printed in May of 2024. As of April 2024, this has already had a massive effect on the price of the packs and booster boxes.

At the time of release, they sold for around $135. Almost a year after that, these booster boxes were selling for upwards of $200+!

At this point in time, they are selling for between $80-95.

Should I Buy Japanese 151 Pokémon Now?

Based on the market reaction, it seems that this will be a very large reprint. And as we can see above, the pricing for a Japanese 151 Booster Box has already never been lower.

If you’re able to get your hands on one for $80, the consensus seems to be that is a pretty good price regardless. If you’re trying to pick them up for investment purposes, make sure that the box is sealed.

And if you’re trying to sell? You probably already missed what will be the peak for a reasonable amount of time. You’re likely better off holding onto them.
